Microalgae have enormous potential as biological resources and agricultural commodities. Species such as Spirulina and Chlorella contain large amounts of protein, can be harvested year-round, and require less land to produce than many conventional crops. This factsheet provides an introduction to the use of microalgae in organic poultry diets, highlighting microalgae types and nutrient composition.
